You sure you have the amp wired to 2 ohms?

I'm assuming you have a pair of dual 2 ohm subs wired in series-parallel?

yup, dual 2ohm 12's... i have a wire from one coil positive and one coil negative on each sub connected, and am using the other 2 to run to the amp from each woofer. this should give it a 2ohm load.

Yeah, its wired correctly.

But still, its really not enough power for two type-r's. The 12's are rated for 500 RMS, and can take plenty more.

The diamonds are rated for 500 RMS as well.

Either way, 850 RMS would not be enough for a PAIR of new style type-r's.

BTW, its all good, i searched for hours after i bought these subs because everywhere i looked said they were rated for 500rms and mine said 300rms LOL i was going insane at first thinking i might have bought some knockoffs or something LMAO

Thats what i need to do.

Can anyone tell me how much power is too much for a 12" type-r in a 2.25 cu ft box?

The sub is wired at 2 ohm and iirc my viper will put out 800w at 2 ohm.

After i installed it i set the gains to 500w rms with a dmm but I find myself upping the gains little by little.

Any suggestions???

ya i say either get a more powerful amp or get 1 15" and build a new box. But that box would be decent for the type r's. The type r 12's like 2.0-2.5cubic ft@30-36hz

I think that would work nicely if it puts out 850rms at 2ohms. I think they really pound with 1100 or so

That would be plenty of power for the R's you dont want to blow them really fast....thats why local shops dont sell you amps over the rms...i only got like 300-350 watts rms going to each sub in my car and it hits pretty **** hard....you would be ok for the R's with 425 to each sub...not the Type X's can take alot more than 1000watts rms

also i dont think it will be good if you give the R's 850 watts each when the RMS is only 500 ya know
