Buildlog for Rl-i8 fiberglass enclosure

throw doesn't matter

displacement does

I had a 3 1/4" on my Q and there was noise (the noise was from the idiots who made it though..I paid someone for the first time to build it instead of me and yeah...)

Well I just got the sub in today. I've been slowly adding more layers to the main mold.

Once I get ahold of the port I need, I'll get onto finishing it up.

Pictures will be this weekend because my mom has the camera and she's on a trip.

Ok well time for an update:

I added two more layers to the main mold, got my piping for the port, and more fiberglass resin and mat.

I am going to cut out the rings tonight after dinner and then hopefully lay everything out before I fleece it.

Camera's back so I can get some pixzors later.

Alright, time for an overdue update. I've been on vacation for the past week so I haven't had any time to work on my enclosure until last night and today.

In the past 24 hrs I have made the sub ring, made the port, glued port and ring in place, fleeced the entire thing, and layed down the first light layer of resin on the fleece (not pictured).

I hope this thing turns out well considering it's my first all fiberglass enclosure.

As far the specs; I am shooting for around ~0.75cf tuned to 29-31Hz (depends on final cf). The port I made using a flush bushing and pvc pipe. I smoothed off the ends and the bushing to make it as close to a flared port as possible without buying a real one (since the precision ports aren't long enough for my tuning).

Criticism is welcome, good and bad. I've been learning as I go.

IIRC I think i saw some guys using "vacuum" hosing as ports? It allowed for them to be flexible and just run the port in the box and be done. One would think it would require securing though......

Alright, another overdue update.

I've added 3-4 layers on the fleece (I need some more resin) but I need to add more 'cuz it's a little weak in some places. It's basically ready for the sub except I need to bondo around the port and seal that area up. The mat didn't stick well to the PVC like I was hoping so I just need to sand the hell out of it and bondo it. I will paint later on I just want bass back before I leave for school next week.

I might go buy more resin today, I don't know. It's 100º+ outside so eh. I don't know how much time I'll spend out there.

Question: How does everyone securely mount a fiberglass enclosure? Sure, it fits like a glove last time I tried but I know it'll move around with the RL-i8 in it.
