...is most anything associated with enclosure design/construction.

Thankfully, however, at the rather insistent urging of my mother I did learn to read! Specific to this conversation I learned to read directions.

So! With that in mind I plan to use one of the enclosure-building diagrams that MoeLester was kind enough to post on the forum (assuming that the one I need is still hosted on his ImageShack account instead of the "Image No Longer Available" varieties)

Please, Oh Enclosure Gurus of CA.com....please tell me what ported enclosure size/tuning would be most appropriate for a sub with the following T/S specs?

Z: 4

Re: 3.2

BL: 9.94

Vas: 198 liters / 6.996 cu. ft.

Mmms: 116.4 grams

Fs: 19.3Hz

Qms: 11.341

Qes: 0.4

Qts: 0.386

93dB sensitivity @ 1w/1m

0.15 cu. ft driver displacement

52.9 oz magnet

2.6" VC diameter

I do not know if I have provided more information than necessary or not enough. If anything is missing please let me know what it is (and the proper abbreviation for it to make it easier for me to try and locate that info) and I'll get on that asap.

Soooo........which enclosure design would be best for the above-spec'd single 12" SVC 4 Ohm sub?

Thanks in advance!

Is this going into the budget mobile? Do you have any info on the type of sound you're going for? We could get you setup with some insane boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am pretty sure I know about what you'd be looking for. I 'll try to model some stuff for you when I get home this afternoon.

Well -

It is going to compliment the Polk/Momo components I got from Ridinhi (yes, in the BudgetMobile) so take that for what it's worth if anything at all.

I'm not looking for way boomy as this simply isn't a low-end monster of a sub. I'd like tight, snappy, and as accurate as possible, I reckon is the best way to describe it. I'm not wanting to dedicate huge amounts of cargo area real estate to this so as small of a box as I can get away with while still being appropriate for the sub. No more than 2 cubes at most, I wouldn't imagine...

R-L, D-C, Isob, eh?

Alrighty then. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imdaman.gif.bc6c552e19aa4ad8c47461144f40eb1a.gif

Smells like a 12" for home. In any event it doesn't look as though it likes small enclosures. So with that in mind I would just go sealed. About 1.75 cu ft. If you must go ported, I don't think you will be happy with less than 2.5 cu ft and tuned to 30=32hz

Then again I am not a CA enclosure god so my input may be moot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Well, then. Everyone that has taken more than a glance at it thus far has told me this is better suited for home than mobile. But that simply isn't the use it was supposedly built for? Argh! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I could live with 32" overall length.

And that one doesn't look too tough to actually build just looking at the cut sheet numbers.

Yeah it definitely looks suited more to home because it likes big enclosures and its low fs

If you decide to seal it off, based on the t/s params, right below 3 cubes will give u the flattest response and lowest possible f3, but thats too big. I would do something between 2 and 2.5 cubes sealed, thats based on plugging in formulas though lol.

It's really odd, though, because I also have a pair of the same series subs but 10s.

T/S specs are similar but not exact, naturally.

According to the box calc. on bcae1 the 10s like a bigass box as well, comparitively.

But in the manufacturer-spec .8 cubes after displacement space they sound just fine and will easily take more power than the ratings would imply.

I'm just not knowledgeable in this area whatsoever so it confuses the heck out of me which is aggravating to no end.

^ What they said Prowler man. You got a weird one. You should see the response curve for my Pioneer Premier 1040C. I have yet to find any other driver that models like it does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
