Building drivers/amplifiers

Hey guys,

I didn't know where to post this since it included all aspects of audio reproduction lol..

But I want to learn how to construct drivers by using pre-built motors and cones, etc.

Also I would like to learn how to construct an amp from ground up.. I have searched a bit but haven't found anything super useful. I have learned a bit from bcae1.com but want to learn the actual build process.

Thanks,

Trevor

have you at least reconed one sub before? That would be a good place to start in that area. As far as building your own amps, it's really not worth the time and effort....and money. You can just get boards from the Chinese or Koreans that work very well and are cheaper to purchase then just buying a componant here and there and attempting to assemble your own motherboard.

word, components bought separately are really expensive. there is someone that sells a dvd package on how to repair amps, its worth buying IMO.

building an effective driver from the ground up is hard. Stick to reconing, there's a tutorial on it

the people at DIY Audio are typically helpful. Its true though, the cost and effort for making a car audio amplifier is a bit high. Essentially it breaks down into 3 main parts - a power supply to convert 12V-14V into something useful, a signal processor to adjust the 200mV-8V full-range signal into something desired, and then the actual amplifier that takes these inputs to provide power to the speaker. It may be easier to start with home audio, and with the low power parts first. http://www.diyaudio.com should be helpful.

lmao... cheaper than make a home audio amp...

You have to worry about the A/C to D/C converter. That's expensive as hell.
