Building a system in stages.

I recently purchased a 2004 VW GTI and don't have the cash right now to go out a buy a whole system. I do however have some money left over to start looking into buying a system in stages.

I read this great article online about the process and was hoping for some input. The authors viewpoint was to first fill out the bass and high ends (something very lacking in factory) and suggested getting a sub, amp, and tweeters. The ideology was that everything you buy now will be used later.

My question is what should I look for in the amp? The way the author described it the amp would first run the one sub and two rear speakers and then later on another amp would be bought to run two subs (add an additional sub later on) and the first amp would be used to run four aftermarket speakers bought later.

I guess I need to know what kind of amp will be good to run a sub and two factory speakers now and later will be good to run four aftermarket speakers. As well can tweeters be bought separetely?

Thanks:)

Wow that is surprising. Guess the internet is a small place after all.

I don't see myself going with something CRAZY. I have always wanted a system that is clear without a lot of seperation between the bass, mid, highs. I hate it when the bass is an entity onto itself but still like to listen to my music loud.

I guess a final stage would be to have a good cd deck, fwo pair of component speakers (I really like boston acoustic) an amp to run the speakers, two 10 inch subs with another amp running those.

First of all I would get a good head unit and go from there. It is your command central for you to biuld off of. I biult my system in increments and it was a long process. Took a few years but what great sound it has become. Everytime you add something it changes your system. Good luck to ya!
