building a new computer.

my dad just bought a computer..I thought it would be sufficient for playing games and doing school work (photoshop/html/c++) and eventually macromedia stuff. It's an emachines with a 3200+ 64...1 gig of 266mhz ram. it came with pc 3200 and i had a stick of 266mhz ram layin around, so i just tossed it in.

i'm thinking of building a new machine. i need somthing with balls though.

through my job (circuit city), i can get a dual core pentium 820 chip, motherboard, and a copy of xp PRO for 215.00 direct from intel. Also, i can get an x800 PCI-E for around 170.00

here's how i would like the rig to be.

Dual core pentium d 820

intel motherboard (215.00 for both)

2 gigs patriot memory (around 200.00)

2 samsung 120 gb's in a raid 0 setup (whatever the performance setup is..75.00 each)

1 western digital 320 (140 on newegg)

ati x800 (170)

2 dvdrw's (45 a piece)

antec 450 watt psu (80.00)

whatever style case

massive cooler for the pentium d

what does everyone think. I've been biased to AMD for most of my life but the price of this dual core pentium is nice..

BTW- any circuit city employees on here know how to get stuff from any other retailers like amd or any other technology brands?
