Building a completely new system for $3000.00

I own a Hyundai Tiburon SE (The one that comes without the infinity sound system) and I am looking to completely replace the sound system. Its been a while since the last one I built, and I was hoping you could help me decide on which parts to buy. I am a big fan of Alpine, so my first impression was to go with everything from them. This includes:

Subwoofer - Alpine 12" Type X (~500)

Sub Amplifier PDX 1.1000 (~850)

Sub Enclosure ?

Speakers - Type R (6 1/2 or 5 1/4) (~280)

Speaker Amplifier PDX 4.150 (~750)

Head Unit IVA D130 (~1400)

This roughly comes out to 3780 but thats going by alpines msrp prices which are usually much higher than what you can find online.

I have a couple concerns though, Crutchfield says the 6 1/2 speakers dont fit on my car, even though I've measure the outside circumference and it looks like they are 6 1/2 speakers factory installed.

Another question I had was about the sub, I am really looking for a sub that accentuates drum beats more than anything else. I listen to alot of punk rock kind music, not really any rap.

So if anyone could suggest anything or critique my build based on what I've said, I would love to hear it, or if there are any parts that could be replaced with better products. Thanks alot

Don't waste your money on Alpine equipment. You'll be sorry you brand matched after about a week.

I bought alpine in the past and I thought the quality of their stuff was excellent, and lasted for many years, thats the reason I would go for them again

You can get those pdx amp much cheaper. I would suggest the pdx amps to you cause they are sweet looking and sound excellent. See sig. At my local shop the asking pirce on the 1.1000 is $699 and the 4.150 is $599. I do believe. You won't be disapointed at all.

Excellent. So the two amplifiers and the sub I am very happy with, and especially since they are much cheaper than what I originally listed.

The only three things I am concerned about are this:

1) Why arent the Type X component speakers listed on alpines product list? Are they discontinued or something? From reading around though it sounds like they are superior to the Type R's. Also I have to make sure the 6 1/2 will fit in my car.

2) I'm pretty sure I don't want the enclosure to be ported, is there a good place to buy a box thats built to the spec of the type x?

3) The head unit doesn't thrill me as much, but I need one with a screen built in. Does anyone know if this can be modified or hooked up differently so that movies can be played while the car is in motion for my passenger?

or less, the saz 1500 will run you around 450 NEW and the 2.100 will run you about 235

alright well I am intrigued but I think I need more convincing as to why these assortments of parts are better. Obviously you guys know more about these things than I do so I trust you there, I just would like to know what you guys know.

I know that means tons of research and thats what I'm in the process of, but could anyone give me more of an explanation?

Well basically the "name" brands are almost always going to give you less for more. You are paying for the name of the product more than for the product itself. The brands nauc listed are proven to be excellent, reliable products.

basically they are suggesting a couple internet companies that offer you a much better product at a much less price.

the FI Q's they suggested and the Sundown amps are very popular here. Both brands that unless i would of joined the forums i would of never heard of.

Yes the alpine is good stuff but you are going to pay twice the price for a slightly inferior product.

just throw FI and Sundown in the search button and youre going to get a million threads on each saying how great they are.
