Build My Setup

Okay guys, I have a system that I pulled out of my 2012 Honda civic HF before I traded it in. Relatively basic setup. (Info below)

I just picked up a 2015 civic SI, and I am debating throwing this system in or just selling it. I thought the stock system would be enough, and it is okay, however it doesn't do anything awesome.

I will need to keep the factory HU. Outside of that what should I change, add, get rid of, etc. I will end up mounting the mono amp on the sub box so I can remove easily when the car goes to the track or the trunk is needed (DD).

I have 4 kicker 6.5" coaxials. CS65

Speaker amp is a kicker CX300.4

Sub amp is a kicker CX1200.1

Sub's are 2 x 10" kicker comp vr's

I want it to sound good. I don't care about how loud it is. I was even debating just swapping in the speakers and amp to get better midrange. The sub could be improved down the road that way also and keep a relatively stock appearance.

Dont switch speakers. Use a jbl ms 8. Keep everything stock and sound worlds better than what you are planning to do.

That looks pretty sweet. I will have to look into it. That will prob help my issue with the stock system. It just sounds muddy.

Thanks.

That's what I was going to say. I have mine powering the rear stock speakers. It wouldn't be loud enough for me but it might work for you. If not if gives you a very good base to expand off of. If you really want it to sound good swapping speakers with no treatment won't help.

A side note, your civic won't power those amps.

I keep my stock sync deck

I guess I don't understand what you mean by, my civic won't power those amps. This whole setup came out of my last civic and I had no issues with it.

Your car has around a 80 amp alternator. That powers the car and whatever is left over the amps will use. Those amps can draw around 140 amps, average is half that.

So your 80 amp alternator can not supply enough for the car and the amps. If it worked in your last car it must have been tuned way down.

Oh, OK. I get what your saying. I have always run an optima and had no issues. The size of the alternator isn't the biggest issue with these cars. The real problem is that the alternator only makes power when needed (computer controlled). Most guys run a secondary battery. Hence why I debating selling everything and just modifying the factory system.

The system I have is overkill for me. I can guarantee I never used it to anywhere near its potential.
