Budget

If I asked for a set up and gave a budget of $400 why do people tell me to buy a setup that cost $1000 and tell me don't buy anything until I save.

I can understand if somebody will suggest a $450 or $500 set up.

Some people need to understand budget and how much a person is willing to spend on his setup. you might not be happy with a $400 setup but I will be happy with a $400 set up or less.

The best part is i will be told it will be junk unless i spend over $1000 on a set up.

Ok man you said yourself

4-500 budget setup

5-1500 to me is middle ground

1500+ is money bags

My favorite system to date was two comps on 1200w in my old truck whole system cost 480bucks and half of that was custom truck box

In my new vehicle it didn't perform well enough so o bought what's in my sig for 1500+

My next system will be what's in my other post

We know people have budgets but at the same time be reasonable 400 isn't getting alot if you have to get the equipment installed. Not everyone is a DIY guy

if you notice a lot of the newbies does not stay long in this forum or is afraid to post unless they have a 1k to 2k dollar systems, there are always a place for a $200, $300, $400 system.

a person might be working at a carwash and has a family and can only afford $300 and with that money it took him a while to save, and now your telling him he needs a $1000 system? and its garbage if he only spent $300

My system in my old car (which my daughter is still rocking) cost 340. I had Kenwood HU with USB and Aux (Craigslist), stock front and back speakers (they sounded fine off the HU), a P1000bd from the pawn shop and 2 Kicker CVR's 12's in the Kicker "Livin' Loud" box off Craigslist. Paid installer 40 bucks to install my sub amp and a shity 4 gauge amp kit and tthat was that. Sounded great! Imo you don't need a whole lot starting out. Better to get your feet wet and make some mistakes so when you start spending serious money later on you know what you're doing.

i dont know i usually buy in parts. firs would be a headunit then another would be the speakers/amp. then the subs. my last truck the most expensive thing in there were the front speakers that were $180ish.

Well, yeah, that's the problem. People wonder why this hobby is dying, but when people try to get into it with a starter setup, they get told to save up or GTFO when they want to put together a $450 system on one of the biggest car audio forums. A lot of the guys just don't understand that not everybody wants to put over a grand into their car's audio system - at least not at the beginning, and then when they start recommending $300 amps, they start shying people away.

I agree, I've TRIED to suggest descent "bang for the buck" subs & amps that I have personal exp. with, but everyone jumps all over it bashing it as crap... I KNOW pioneer subs are not the greatest in the world by ANY means, but they don't sound bad at all & are very reliable for the price spent, every time I make that suggestion to someone who only wants to spend around $100 a sub, everyone bashes it... oh well, I try ;-)

I have a 400 dollar budget system in my work car and love it

dual head unit w bluetooth hd radio 30 bucks

spl audio sub 1000rms d2 (insane pricing w/ sick subs)

cadence daytona amp 80 bucks

custom enclosure 1.5 cube at 32 hz starrmountain 120

crossfire vr402 2 channel 25 local

cadence 6.5's rear 30 bucks

aura 4" front neo magnet 25

My problem is with the way the word budget gets used. A budget is what you set when you have a plan, whether it's $200 or $20,000. Also, a lot of people have no idea what X amount of money can get for car audio equipment. This is where some gentle education comes into play.

^^^ that dude should probably be spending his 300 on better things than a system...

it happens all the time and people whine about it, but do this go into a forum for any hobby where the majority of the people on the board are into it at a pretty high level such as lil old ca here, that same thing happens pretty much everywhere. its just part of forums.

so instead of just saying this is my "budget" actually do a little research before hand find some things that fit your price range (possibly a few different options) and come back with that, those threads typically turn out a bit better. but at the end of the day, just ignore the people who are suggesting you spend more than you can. problem solved.

so pretty much tell the guy to GTFO because he does not have $1000 to spend on a system.

So you think its fine to suggest these 1500 watt AP amps when OP is on a budget? Amps that require a decent amount of electrical to power or they will burn subs up? Its not that people need to spend X amount on a setup but they need to be told the possible outcomes of spending X amount on a setup. Be it very low quality that might not last, low quality that might not sound good at all. Whoever said buy in peices was right on point. Show them what they can have if they spend a bit more. If they only have $300 recommend them a nice source unit and go from there. It all comes down to getting the most in the long run. It will end up costing less in the end to do it right the first time. This hobby is a money pit, how far do they want to go is the question.

why dont you ask people that owns AP, a lot of them are very happy, and i didn't have a problem when i ran it and it lasted, your so stuck to brand names that you think only the expensive amps lasts.

your standard of good bass is different from other peoples standard of good bass a $300 set up for them might be the best bass they have ever have, your so stuck up your *ss that you think your definition of sounding good is what everybody needs to achieve.
