Amp question

I have a sundown 3500 on my psi platform 3 18. I just re did my ground with copper lugs a d no paint. And I have a new stock alt only 70 or 80 amps, also a kinetik 1800 in the trunk and i can turn the amp up half gain and volume 27 out of 35. Is there something wrong with the amp becuase i dont even get the slightest amount of light dim.

I have a kinetik 1400 under the hood and its wired in at 1 ohm

With my audiopipe 1800 i had light dim, whats the deal

I know this sounds stupid why would i want light dim but i want to make sure the amp is okay

Your lights were dimming with the AP amp because it is NOT efficient at all and is very power hungry... The Sundown amp is much more efficient = ie: It makes a great deal more power output from LESS electrical input than the AP amp did... That sundown is probably barely breakin' a sweat pushing that sub hard - lolz

I think you are wired at 4 ohm instead of 1ohm. It maybe be more eff but its still capable of pulling 350 amps of current you do not have.

if you run 2 batteries off one alt with a rating of 70-80 amps. chances are, you will fry that alt overtime. but with that amp, you should be good for quite awhile

They are dual .5 ohm voice coils

Well I dont know then. Sounds very odd but it should be pulling you WAY down

Set the gain righ not just half way and read the voltage at the amp while playing it hard
