Budget System for Chevy Silverado NewB ~~ Thanks guys

Questions:

Sound difference of Two 600W 12's and a single 1200W 12?

Again sound differences of a 10 vs a 12 of the same power?

Why Duals over a Strong Single?

Thanks guys i really appreciate the help!

You will, generally speaking, get more output from 2 lower-powered woofers than one higher-powered one. There is almost no difference in sound between a 10" and 12" version of the same sub. The 12 will be able to play lows with a bit more authority, simply because it has more cone area and is therefore moving more air.

Also, with the dimensions you listed, you should easily be able to fit a pair of 8s or 10s under one side of the seat, and put your amp on the raised part. You'll only need about 1 cubic foot for the eD 8s.

Even though ///M5 doesn't like the owner of eD, here's what I'd do.

2 eD 9kv.2s : $110 plus shipping w/ forum discount. http://www.edesignaudio.com

Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1: $270 shipped http://woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=475

Knukonceptz wiring kit: $43 plus shipping http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK4

Puts you at $420 plus a few shipping costs. Buy a sheet of MDF for like $30 and build a box.

I like that setup, but i like a single 12 for affect though.

Now I am even more stuck haha...cant decide on one or two subs

with your situation, it would be better to get one sub. you could get two and put them in an enclosure thats not built as close to specs as one would like, or you can get one sub and have it built to specs

personally, with your room and $$$, i would do one ported sub

With the 8s I suggested, he could easily get recommended airspace for the pair on only one side of the seat, leaving room for whatever the other side is being used for. Honestly, I think a ported system may be too loud, seeing as he has to share the truck with his old man. Plus, for small boxes, the port ends up being huge any way, which deeats the purpose of having a small box.

I havent seen a box for two 8's on one side of the truck yet:wow: ... could you link one up

You'd have to build it. But with the dimensions you posted, it shouldn't be hard to get them under there. Building a standard sealed box is pretty easy. As long as you have a few key tools, some basic carpentry skills, and a free afternoon, it shouldn't be too hard for you. If you can get about 1cu. ft. under there, you'll be golden.

Like I said, If I can squeeze 4 of those behind the bench in my std. cab s10 without loosing any legroom, you can get a pair in that truck.

I would e-mail eD before you purchase though. I couldn't figure out how to apply the forum discount using their online checkout
Type the word "forum" in the search box at the top of eD's site, and it will bring up a list of all items that are available at forum discount.
