Finally got my stuff in the mail today...i am doing a budget sound quality install in an 01 civic. Here is what I have recieved.

Pioneer 4800MP- 150 shipped (including all installation gear)

Aura 50x4 - 110 Shipped

AA Assassin 10 - 70 Shipped

Total spent so far is 330, which leaves plenty to pick out a decent pair of components from the local shop (I find myself leaning towards getting the Blapunkt's cuz they sounded best for the money)...that leaves about 50 to get supplies to build the box and wires for the amplifier. (trying to keep total under 500 dollars for the entire system)

Any comments or suggestions so far? Hearing that i should have gotten this or shouldnt have gotten that wont really help, but you can still say it :-D

Build is happening this weekend: pics will be posted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i heard a few sets there at the shop. the best out of the budget stack was the blapunkt, at least to me...i know they aint the most reputable for their sound quality, but i liked em. That being said, why not get em?

I had considered the DIY road for the components. Problem is that I was going to get some help from the local shop installing them because I am not quite sure how to make sure that what i buy is an exact fit, seems like everything needs an adaptor, new holes drilled, mounting depth checked, etc. And if i go DIY, ill have to design a crossover wont i? The HU has HP Xovers for the speakers but im not sure it has LP for anything except the subwoofer out.

soo lets talk this out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2 on Blaupunkt being irreputable.

YOu can easily find a better setup on Parts Express for cheaper most likely... but we gotsta know your budget as the man helotaxi says.

The thing is man if you skimp on the comps you are gonna be dissatisfied with the whole system. I've had incredible sub bass setups but only VERY marginal mids and highs until as of late and through that experience- I'd spend more on my comps than I would on subs unless the goal was high SPL.

budget is around...hmm...lets make it 100-150...and also i would like some way of getting help on the install cuz the idea of whether or not spacers, brackets, or new screw holes are needed intimidates me

thats what i hear...i need help figuring out what to buy so that it fits my 01 civic well enough to make installation a no hassle project

when i ordered the HU from crutchfield they sent a mastersheet instructions for removal of the HU and removal/replacement of the speakers, but i just dont know when to use brackets/spacers, etc..and i would rather not drill new screw holes...but i am open to suggestions...so lets hear em

I know its been ten days since this thread was last posted in but I own an 03 civic and I can tell ya for sure that if you decide to do 6"s in the front doors you will want to get low profile speakers no matter what brand you decide to go with! Theres not much clearance. If this is your first install in this car take the stocks out and use them as guide to help you measure, the ones you buy dont have to be excact but should be within 1/4" of the stocks from the top of the speaker to the bottom of the magnet.
