and thats what I would try if they fit into your power needs....Worst comes to worse you can sell em off if you dont like it but better hurry theres a new boner of the month coming soon,there always is

i'd look into the TMA components. MSRP is under $200 from an authorized JL dealer, however you can find them online for considerably less... under 100 bucks. for a budget speaker, they actually do very, very well. tons of midbass, will get wicked f'n loud, and sound really good regardless of music genre. if you listen to a lot of metal/hard rock, the tweeter can be a bit fatiguing on the reference setting in the passive crossovers, but i'd imagint attenuate it a bit and it'd mellow right out. or go active with it (as you plan to do, and as i was doing with them) and they get real smooth. entry level line for JL they might be, entry level sound they are not. i did end up switching back to my boston pro 6.53's because i do like them better, but who wouldn't i did hear a lot of good things about them and had to try them out for myself, just to see what the hype was about... and was pleasantly suprised.
