Alright I know this isnt a computer forum. But it seems like some of you guys know your stuff about computers. Now I have an acer aspire 3680 laptop. Yesterday it was on my bed, and it fell off. And it completely erased everything. But the vista cd back in, but none of my hard drive drivers were in.

Now how can i put the necessary hard drive drivers back in?

That site has the drivers for my laptop, but i dont see any for the hard drives.

http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acerdrivers/bin/drivers.html?CFID=5784930&CFTOKEN=52151056

Any help would be appreciated

go into the bios and make your cdrom the first boot device. it should boot into windows setup and during install the first thing it does is install the drivers

also make sure your hard drive didnt get knocked loose when you dropped the laptop

please distinguish between hard drives (hardware) or drivers (software).

also, you need to check to make sure your hard drive is listed in the bios. then clarify what happens when you boot your laptop up without the vista cd. you basically need to start from scratch it sounds like...unless you can get to a recovery point via windows.

also, if you're up to it, you may want to locate your hard drive in your laptop, take it out, and firmly put it back in in case it was loosened by the fall.

if its a SATA drive, it MIGHTT have the need for sata drivers before it can be used, but it should still be recognized as a hard drive

snoop around in the bios and try to make sure your hard drive is being detected

if its not, the drop probably killed it, hard drives arent the most "invincible" devices, they can get damaged pretty easily actually

the vista cd would have those sata drivers tho...so it should've picked up the hard drive if it was being recognized.

or you knocked it loose

finding the hard drive isnt hard, turn the pc over and unscrew/open the little doors until you find it

or save yourself the trouble and sell the laptop to me cheap and i will fix it

Laptop parts like hard drives, etc. Are geared more towards mobility, so they can take a good beating.

But like most moving parts they'll break eventually. If it's a broken hard drive, you can buy another one and install your

recovery disk/windows disk.
