broadband speed test's

well, i restarted my network, modem and router and i redid the speed test, and i love the results, this isnt made up either, i can post similar results if anyone doubts them, heres the second one:

Im using a linksys, very similar to

this one, the design has changed a bit but thats mine, and the card i use looks like this and the base has 3 antennas mounted to it, its a fast setup but i find the modem losses speed after a few days or a week and it needs to be restarted, like my previous post showed, but once restarted, its awesome, Id say go with anything from Linksys, I tried netgear(good for wired applications) but when i went wireless it just didnt work so I went with this router and Ive been about 6 houses down with my laptop and still got something like 97% full service, it was nuts, check those pages out and see if anything looks good for your application

its weird for me here and on cnet i get about 700kbps and everywhere else anywhere from 5mb to 25mb

I don't understand why people would EVER use wireless unless they have a laptop... or more than two desktops.
Even on my laptop, I plug in 99% in my apartment. When I'm on campus outside I'll use wireless.

me to save money. my roomate allready had 5 mb in his room so i hooked up the linksys in his room called the isp and upgraded and didnt have to pay for connection fee or anyting and now me and him are gonna half on the bill and its gonna be cheaper then his 5mb service was since were going half and half

well I use wireless b/c we have 2 desktops, and 2 laptops, and to run the wires for the desktops would be a PITA! so I just did a wireless network, it was just easier this way, I went to the cnet speed test, and it showed me running at 903.5 Kbps - You 903.5 kbps, which is about right I guess, it always fluctuates but as long as it is somewhat fast I dont mind it.

BTW Sergio, nice setup you got goin on in your explorer, it looks good, nice memphis amps, theyre beauties!! good luck with it!

I have to use it for my xbox live because the connection comes in upstairs where my router is unless i want to write the entire house which I don't.

I guess I just like being plugged in.

Also, my dad has worked for Cincinnati Bell for over 30years... so we have miles of CAT5 in our house... and I grew up knowing how to do it all.

So, I like being plugged in... and getting full speed all the time, better reliability, better security.

Yea my sisters boyfriend's dad works for verizon, hes been doing it for a long time, not quite sure how long but awhile and he helps with some of the stuff if I need a hand setting something up, I want to try a wired line and see how I like it since this computer is only a few feet from my router now(it was about 50 feet before), ah geez, Ill add it to the "To-Do" list . .

30 megs download15 mega upload
Thats the Georgia Tech connection?

I'm guessing everyone with these asinine speeds are on someone else's network, like a college or at work.

Right now I'm stealing wifi from who knows and getting 4.3 megabits, which seems pretty snappy. When I'm on the road or someplace without reliable connection I use a sprint EVDO card, which does around 700kb. Not the fastest but surfing is still really easy.

Ive got comcast digital cable coming into my house, my nieghbors try and mooch off of my connection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif but none of that! haha

Yea, EVDO ftw!

But uploads ftl big time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif They say they're about to fix it though, adding another channel for uploads only I think?

I use to tether to my crappy cingular "EDGE" connection, now THAT is sloooow. EVDO is definitely broadband speed in comparison.

Yea.

I just got 17 on the upload! woot!

But I download from people on the network and from sites at about 3-6 megs.

ok i found out i had the oldest firmware version for my router and it was buggy so right before i updated the firmware i tested each site 3 times and i was getting like 2,000kbps with speadtest and about 5000 with speakeazy. even at this time of night //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

and my roomy keeps getting like 25mb grrr lol

so i updated the firmware wich took about 2 minutes and bam!
