Split wattage? No it will reduce the ohm load however and possibly harm the amp or headunit. Be careful in doing this to make sure you are nto going to be dropping the ohm load too much on whatever is powering it and you should be fine.

 
ok, could somebody figure out the ohm load for me with that then. i have a kicker 300.4 which is 38 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms and 75 watts x 4 at 2 ohms and i have my wire going too the 5 1/2s and if i were to cut that wire and splice the tweeter wire into it (not hooking up both wires to the amp just splicing) what kind of ohm load would that be?
