I'm running4 guage and yes it does only do it when i have the volume turned up if I turn down the gain on the amp then it also wont do it but of course i doesnt hit as good i was thinkng of running another power cable from the batery to the amp but i want to know if this should sove the problem and alo need to know if i can just run a regualr 80 amp in line fuse instead of spending another $25 for a anl fuse let me know if u think if this will solve the problem ight.....thanx...peace

well...the problem....is that your amp is not getting enough power when the bass hits....and if you have the gain set to high its going to cause clipping which will damage your subs...and eventually destory them.....now i would recomend turning the gain down a bit and possiblty upgrade your wiring to a bit of a larger size..good luck

What type of vehicle is the amp in? I have one running off 4 gauge wire, with a 150amp ANL stinger fuse, and no capacitors and I have no problems with it going into protect during loud bass notes. You may have it wired for too low of an impedence. What ohm load are the voice coil/coils on those 4 subs?

Sounds like the amp is not getting the juice it needs or as it pulls more is shorting somewhere. Try out a better guage wire for power AND ground.

gain is the key, your amp is clipping cause your gain is too high, gain is not a volume control....turn your gain to zero theun turn your deck up as high as it goes, then turn your gain up till you hear distortion, when you hear distortion back the gains off till it goes away, YOU HAVE NOW SET YOUR GAINS TO MATCH THE OUTPUT OF YOUR H/U....

IF IT'S NOT LOUD ENOUGH AFTER YOU HAVE SET YOUR GAIN PROPERLY THEN YOU NEED A LARGER AMPLIFIER OR YOU MAY WANT TO TRY A LINE DRIVER....

A 1200.1amp not capable of pushing 4 rf subs well? and blowing fuses? Clipping on the amp will nto cause a fuse to blow especially when it should be able to push the hell out of those subs. Setting the gains properly will help with the clipping as even he stated in his original post, but still without enough or proper power going to the amp it can cause a fuse to blow like that and it can cause the amp to perform poorly. Yeah at a first glance a straight clipping issue would be from a poorly set gain on the amp. However not the fuses blowing and the amp performing like ***.

its in a 2001 saturn L300 the subs are all 4ohm dvc and i have it wired down to the amp at 2 ohms bridged...theres no dostortion either i only got the gainup abput 1/2 way if ne one knows or thinks if i have another cable running from batt to amp will help let me know please or ifne 1 has the 1200.1 jbl amp please email me @ ImBadBoy4LIFE@aol.com

what kind of h/u, out put voltage?, i was having my 1200d go into protection but it's at 2 ohms and not even getting hot, but i was over driving it with 6 volts of input voltage....but it quit since i fixed it...
