Bridging a kicker amp @ 2ohms? Is it safe?

So I was at a local audio shop yesterday by the name of US Audio in Maryland. They seem like a pretty serious shop and are extremely competitive in audio. I bought a new sub (DD 1500) and hooked it up and one of the team members there was helping me tune my amp. He told me I should get a bigger amp for the sub and i told him i had a kicker zx850.2. The DD is 4ohm dvc so i can only wire it to 2 ohms if i want to get sufficient power out of that amp.

The guy was tellin me you can bridge kicker amps as low as 1 ohm. I'm not sure if I should be believing him or not so the real question is how safe will it be if i bridge the kicker @ 2ohms (although its only rated at 4 ohm bridged) and have all my gains tuned correctly?

I see people all the time telling people to do this. I think only a moron would tell someone to burn up their amp. Kicker used to make 1 ohm and .50 ohm amps, they don't now. it says in the manual what the lowest safe load is. I wouldn't do it. I promise you that if you do it to a zx line amp it will smoke. maybe not now or in a day but sooner or later its gonna cook. also overdriving an amp clips the signal horribly.

IF you have a knowledgable installer who built the box and etc and knows your system they prop know what your box rise is... therefore allowing them to know if you can run them at lower imp.. Box rise is a ***** go read about it
