Breaking in new subwoofer

Jmac is wrong, what else is new //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

..... Just set it, and forget it. Eventually it'll wear in the suspension and be a little louder than it was originally.

when I got my subs I played them easy for the first day then after that I started to play them like I do now.
That would actually be counterproductive if your intention was to break in the sub.

Only way to break it in is to actually use it. Keeping it at a low level isn't going to do anything for it.

ive seen a few subs that *had* to be broken in... but honestly unless your hammering hte limits of hte sub it doesnt matter... and most woofs handle MORE power before break in.

just pay attention to whats goin on...

if you wanna be anal about it, get it to about 75% xmax with 20hz overnight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

When I bought my M6 (bear in mind because I wanted the 3 yr DAT warranty I bought it retail) I asked the shop's owner about whether or not any break-in was necessary.

He walked back inside to the HU display board and retrieved a bass track disc out of one of the Premier decks on display and came back outside. He had the installer set the gain with a DMM then stuck his disc in my stereo. After finding the specific track he wanted (dunno who/what it was but it was very bass-heavy...lots of 40Hz and below) he FF'ed it to a particular spot in the track, listened to it for few seconds, then cranked the volume to something like 30 or 31 (maxed volume setting on my deck is 35)

He then looked at me and grinned and said, "It'll get louder as it breaks itself in. There's no need to 'go easy on it' because normal use will loosen the suspension, surround, etc up over the next few days or so. You've got a three-year warranty ~ bang the hell out of it!"

I reckon if the guy selling them is willing to treat 'em that way knowing that it's a warrantied item and if doing so damaged/destroyed it then it'll be him having to send it to DAT for repair/replacement then it must be alright //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah I remember when I had my Kove Armagedon u-2 sub. I was told that it would take 2 to 3 weeks of easy listening till it would start to slam good. He was right to as it was slamming. Just sucked for those 2 weeks to wait for the slam. Also this is my first post so would like to say hey to all those car fanactics out there. Peace!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
