brands that have gone downhill?

Hmmm...that is good news //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Indeed, im interested to see what the new high end line will look like whenever that comes out. But the new rsd amps have been great, far better than the xenon in pretty much every aspect infact.. Just wish they would hurry up and release the rsd competition subwoofer:yumyum: Anyways back to the thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Adire FTW
I was a big fan of their older drivers. I had a few of the MK2 brahmas, and I really enjoyed them.

But these days they don't have a single driver that I would even consider putting in my car.
then why were you trying to be an authorized dealer for them? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

It seems like a lot of companies are just plain pulling their highest high end gear off the market, because people seem to be satisfied with their $200 best buy head units, and $200 best buy subwoofers.

The exact same thing happened in home audio in the 80's, the market boner went limp, and now all the mainstream brands are focused more on $500 all-in-one entertainment centers than high-quality components.

No doubt one day we'll be stuck with most of the commercial brands we love only producing cheap-*** products geared for people who could care less how 'good' it actually sounds, and then small companies that produce high-quality products for outrageous money. It's happening to some degree already.

The worst thing about mb quart now is that they still list outrageous MSRP's, but then have big "sales" where their $1600 amps are like $350 on ebay............

sounds like a page out of the speakers in the back of a van scam

The advent of multichannel did that more than anything. Instead of the heavy, well-built two channel components of the '70s (there were some real crappy pieces of early solid state, don't get me wrong...), people rushed out and bought five or more channels of compromise stuffed in a cheap Japanese box. Now people's definition of "home theater" usually is a gigantic TV and tiny cube speakers with a receiver. Sorry, doesn't impress me.

The high end in general is a niche market. It's just that the regular people with lead ears have sold their record players and big speakers for stuff that's more "aesthetically pleasing" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
