I have an Eclipse 8053 with 8V preouts, and I can turn it all the way up without having any issues. I actually ran mine at .5ohm for a few days while the wire from my alt to my main battery somehow got disconnected...needless to say, the amp didn't start cutting out until it was playing at 9V(batts not getting a charge from the alt) with a .5ohm load. And I still had to turn it up quite a bit in order for it to cut out.Do you happen to be using a line driver that goes above 6v?
I was lookin at your posts trying to figure it out, what headunit are you using? is it an older eclipse with a high voltage output?
i was thinking running that low with smaller power wire. he might have the power to run the amp, but not the wire to get all the current to the amp. thats kinda what i was getting at.I really doubt lower voltage or ohm load is an issue. I ran my saz3000d @.5 saw voltage down to 11.8 Never not once went into protect.
I had the same problem in my install. The top series of the stinger RCA's would cause the amp to go into protect. Jacob told me to try cheap radioshack rca's and sure enough, flawless performance. The center pin doesn't make good connection. Seems the cheapest RCAs never have this problem, only expensive ones.
