Brahma 12 in tight space, help

I'm getting a brahma 12 and putting it in my mustang. Needless to say, the space is very tight. By my calculations I have a max height of 12" and I'm looking to get about 1 or 1.1 cu feet. The site says the cutout diameter is 11 1/8"... But that wouldn't leave enough space to make a sturdy enough box... right? Does anyone know the exact diameter of the 12? How would the sound differ if the sub was placed in a box, with similar airspace and it was facing upwards, or slanted? Any help would be appreciated.

the diameter of Brahma 12 is 12.5". this means your max. height of 12" wont fit a brahma 12 if you try to fit the sub vertically. however, you may try to fit the sub slanted.

why not just get a brahma 10" ??

Well I'm not completely opposed to 10's. I'd probably want to get 2 instead. I just wanted to know if the slanted or upfiring angles would make a differnece in the sound? (ie: kill my trunk)

You will prob have more rattle but some sounddeadner can fix that.

BTW,

I have 2 15" brahmas

Kwang125 has 1 12" brahma //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So basically, as long as the sub has the right amount of space, it doesn't matter which way it's facing? It'll be as loud, same SQ, and all that good stuff. If so, that would resolve a lot of problems. Yes?

box direction can change SPL readings a bit, unless you are going to compete i wouldnt worry about it too much

So what is the overall depth of the 12? The mount depth is 7 1/4", would a 10" high box be big enough, assuming the sub is facing upwards? Or will it be hitting my trunk directly? I'm confused.

What year mustang? If it's a newer one you should have plenty of space for a 12 without having to upfire or anything like that once you take the backseat out and remove the rear plastic headrest thingy. I got 12's in there that way. It works out to closer to 14 inches(a little more actually but thats my box height) of clearance instead of 12.

It's an '02, but I'd prefer not to alter anything on the car, well anything but the stereo. And it's the remnants of the Mach System that are causing the problem of 12". I looked at it and it seems like a hige pain in the *** to remove all that shit.
