u mean when you are laying out the pieces and trying to hold them in place so you can get them together?

no. i mean brace the box from flexing, how do u guys go about it? the box is just about done it needs braced and and the top put on ands it ready for carpet.

usually just a couple pieces of MDF going across the box does fairly well

if you want maximum SPL, bracing on the outside is the way to go. for the inside, try and eliminate all corners.

Threaded rod is what I use.

i eliminated all corners, all 45s now, its about done, gotta find out how i wanna finish it.

i use 2x4's as beams inside the box. seems to work pretty well. you also have to figure in the displacement of bracing when designing a box.

not to jack this thread but since its on the same topic and i figured i would ask...sorry jtomsic

you guys got any tips about bracing a box AFTER the is has been completed. i used a brace on the inside, but my dumbass forgot to glue it in, only used 1 screw for each end. its a little piece of mdf and it worked fine for a while but it loosened up now now caused a horrible sounding rattling. i thought i ****ed a sub up orsomething till i held the brace and the sound dissappeared. i tried using liquid nails on it but most of it comes out the side when it slides past the top of the box. any opinons? threaded rods sound good but can you put them on AFTER the box is already done.

when you guys say eliminate corners do you mean where 3 pieces of wood come together? or just the simple 2x2 triangles where two pieces of mdf meet..
