Boxing Vs. MMA

Don't get why everyone is saying boxing is you swing and hold and swing and hold. Yes, some matches are like that and uber boring, but if you get two guys in there going at it, it is very exciting!

I have seen plenty of MMA matches where all they do is swing and hold as well.....or put them up against the cage and do nothing........then the ref restarts them in the middle and nothing happens and is a stalemate.

Both are very exciting when you have a good competitive match, but both have boring matches as well.

people say boxing is throw punches for awhile then clinch (hold). but MMA has the same shit, when their on the ground alot of times they just lay on eachother.

Both are fun to watch, and take serious skills to have success.
I prefer MMA over boxing because there seems to be more action per fight. Meaning, the odds of watching a boring boxing match are much better than seeing a boring MMA bout.

geo
sums it up very well

in MMA if 2 guys are dukin it out.. you're gonna see blood... in boxing... your gonna see puffy eyes

ok... the good fighters in boxing definately think. And what about all the lame *** MMA fights ive seen where they wrestle around and thats it. Might as well watch the WWE - more entertainment. Watch boxers like Ali, Mayweather, and alot of the greats... they dont just stand there and take head shots. the different styles in MMA makes it interesting but boxing is more of a finesse sport. MMA has so many fights with these "badasses" who fly around throwing haymakers and looking all sloppy(not all the time). but i agree - two different sports entirely and both have their good and bad points.

Ill stick to watching football.... blows em both out of the water.

to me boxing is quite boring......yes there are exciting matches but to me most are boring

mma has so much more to it and i think that is what makes it so exciting. so many different styles and different match-ups makes it that much more entertaining. there are def some boring matches as well, but overall not a ton of them.

as for faber being a boxer? i always thought he was more of a wrestler.......

and forrest vs tyson???? of course tyson would have an advantage on the feet.......but let that fight hit the mat and see whose arm gets busted or who gets put to sleep.

if they stood on there feet, tyson would put him into next week
I dunno about that. Do you watch MMA if so you know that griffen is known for his stand up. That what made him big in MMA is his stand up. But then again not fair different classes. Say Tyson vrs Lesnar .Then you have to switch it to MMA as well. Have them go at it in both sports not just one as the one guy said in boxing. I think it be a good fight in boxing though.

Without question... If Tyson caught Griffin with one of his punches Forest wouldn't know wtf happened to him.
Thats just it.... ALL Tyson has is his fist....

You guys arent thinking that Griffin isnt gonna let tyson hit him where it counts...

One kick to the head from Griffin... Tyson is down.

One arm bar from Griffin............... Tyson is down.

One elbow from Griffin.................. Tyson is down.

ect.......

MMA has a MUCH broader range of weaponry than a boxer....

The difference is.... Griffin can ALSO box... not as good as Tyson... but I still wouldnt want to get hit by him...

BUT

Tyson cant kick...... not even close....

Tyson cant wrestel. not even close.....

Tyson has no ground defense OR offense.....

You guys are talkin about the great boxers that put on a good show that were exciting.... BUT most are gone...

With MMA you have a HUGE range of fighters that are great to watch and always exciting... Just in my area there are over 1200 registered fighters and atleast 100 of them are fun to watch and some are even crazy.... I think there is one boxing building still open with about 20 boxers.....

The sport is dying...

Boxing is more believable in the fact that someone actually has to work their *** off for years and years working their way up the ladder to become champion. In MMA, you can come in with no experience in MMA and within a couple fights become champion.

B.J. Penn - Gets a title shot in just his 4th fight lol

Randy Couture - wins the UFC heavyweight title in his 4th fight lol

Brock Lesnar - Wins the UFC heavyweight title in his 4th fight lol

It's impossible to do that in a sport like boxing, no disrespect for MMA, just that I don't hold it to a higher regard.

Both are extremely entertaining , and if you cant appreciate either , then there is no way you could appreciate any sport unless you have childhood issues of being beat up in school too much and it reminds you of those traumatic years , but MMA is by far the more athletic of the two and my personal favorite. I appreciate Boxing but a boxer would never last in the cage /end

That's because MMA has only recently been a real mainstream sport...Professional boxing has been around for over 100 years... Another thing is the flash ko is much more probable in MMA creating more upsets and a less clear rankings list....so some fighters seem to get bigger fights sooner than others....

I have nothing against boxing...it's still a great sport...I think the # of orgs has taken away a lot from it and the history of fixed fights and such also....

I prefer MMA because I live in Hawaii and we've always been in love with martial arts so MMA fits perfectly...
