Boxing Vs. MMA

MMA is definately better. like mentioned, boxing is the same thing over an over again. its boring after the first round.

with MMA you have a constant excitement, i was watching a fight the other day on strikeforce dude looked lilke he was one punch away from death, was knocked down 4-5x then in the 3rd round gets a second wind an ends up knockin out his opponent. that shit never happens in boxing. plus the female mma fighters are way better lookin the female boxers.

gina carano anyone??

MMA just combines all of the best forms of fighting...
Boxing is legendary in itself.... BUT.... if a boxer got into a fight with a jujitsu style fighter.... the boxer is gonna get his *** kicked....
Not true. Have you ever watched Urijah Faber. He is a boxer that also knows Jujitsu and specializes in submissions. Hes been beaten only 3 times.

to me boxing is more dangerous, since when you get hit, your brain gets the most impact due to the padding on the gloves, thus 50 jabs to the head with a glove will do more damage than a bare fist.

in mma, one right hit and your laid out. to me mma has more action!

Boxing is to boring after a while.... The guy hit the nail on the head when he said all they do is swing and hold... swing and hold.... swing and hold...Where as MMA.... if you hold... you can body slam then, knee them.... Much More Exciting and thats why people are saying MMA is the new boxing, and boxing is on its way out.
pretty much my thoughts. But mma fights end really fast most of the time, and boxing matches can and alot of times to do the whole 12 rounds.

MMA > Boxing. There is a lot more variety in the type of action. In boxing fights are either completely one sided or nothing really happens. In MMA there are always major shifts in momentum for the fighters.

Although I will say that over the past couple of years MMA has started to become more predictable. Back when UFC first started it was MMA in the essence because there were so many different types of styles that fought against each other. As time went on people started realizing that the only real effective fighting styles are kickboxing, juijistu, and wrestling. This lead to fights following more of a pattern.

Very true. In boxing your more likely to get brain damage from the ten count rule. You can get yourself hurt that way in the long run. When being knocked out but allowed to get back up if you beat the ten count then get smashed again. IN MMA this will not happen you get knocked out thats the game no ten count.

Most of the time end fast. I dunno about that one. Mabye like a blue moon. From all the PPV's I have seen.

ive did both....boxing is slower paced.....i didnt like it...got boring after a while,

mma fast paced, kicks to the head....i have long legs so i like kickin....umm...its just better...

u talkin about my woman?

I meant as in Forrest Griffin -vs- Mike Tyson.......

not fair.....different weight classes....lol

as soon as old school sports writers accept MMA and Espn covers it like it does big boxing matches MMA could become the biggest sport in the world. It does well over a billion dollars a year in ppv buys alone. You do not see any MMA guys getting media coverage like you do with boxers like De lahoya or Pacman. The only guy on espn I ever see give mma fighters coverage is Jim Rome.
