Check out the box design sticky in the enclosure section. I would go with no less than 4 cu, and tune it in the low 30's. I had 2 sealed in 1 cu each and was not happy with it at all. Built a ported box and it was a night and day difference.

sealed = 1- 1.25 per sub

ported= 1.5 - 2.5 per sub tuned to 30-32 hz

i have 2 newer type r's 12" er's. i want them in a sealed box becuase i listen to metal and rock so i need them to keep up. what would be a good sealed box for them? anybody have them in a sealed box and the sounded alright? thanks

if you tune them a little higher than most street beaters, they will keep up fine...Mine do, and mine are set up for rap...but they have a nice punch as well...very responsive. If you search around a little, you will see that they DO NOT like sealed boxes. Plus ported you get MUCh more output.
