I have 2 planet audio ac12d 2 ohms.will a box tuned @ 40 hz sound good for these subs

A dumpster would be the best kind of box for those. Tune them somewhere between the half eaten sandwich and used condom filled with a questionable liquid.

Depends on listening habits. 40 is a little high unless you almost exclusively listen to rock, alternative etc.

I find 35hz to be a good middle ground for a mix of genres

yeah if u mostly listen to rap or real low bass u need to be 35hz or lower (also if your amp has a ss filter set it at 35hz or so on current box)
