Ok, quick question to the pod...

I will be running 6 9kv.2 subs in a small sealed enclosure. Due to significant size restrictions I had to fire the subs down and use 1/2 Mdf. I was thinking of putting a few supports inside along with a couple of coats of resin/mat. Is this overkill or a good idea to keep flex at bay? I will be powering with a 9.1 1200 rms...

Personally, I think the supports should be good enough... But the resin is always fun!

Some 1-1/5" dowels should suffice.

Both imo.

But i resined my box i built recently for 2 reasons

1) if i failed to seal the box 100% with wood glue and caulk, the resin will for sure seal up the box... well at least the parts of the box that are SUPPOSED to be sealed lol.

2) my trunk likes to leak a lil from time to time, so in order to keep the box from swelling, i impregnated the wood with resin... waterproof boxes ftw.

I guess it also helps keep it rigid, but im not an expert on how well it DOES reinforce the box. If you want to paint it, go ahead and lay some mat too.... Makes for a hella clean box imo

Those two plus another:

1. Relatively aerodynamic shape cuts down on turbulence that other bracing suffers from

2. They're strong, cheap and won't break

3. Require no skill whatsoever to install, unlike fiberglassing

Its sealed, so the turbulence doesnt really matter.

Excellent info. If I were the king at box building I would need neither but as it stands I will reinforce with both dowels AND resin/mat. I figure I can dope the corners to keep them together and put a few "rods" in the middle to keep flex down...

How big is the box in the first place? Internal Volume that is.
