Box size dilemma. Little help here

Heres the situation, I've got 2 type r 12s and am designing a box for them. My maximum box dimensions are wedge shaped

30 inches wide

16 inches tall

8 inch top depth

14 inch bottom depth

calculators put the volume at around 2.2 cub ft. The RE box calculator (which I've read can be off) says with a 1.5 inch wide and 14.5 inch tall port i should be at 35 hz tuning which is what I want for these subs. But RE doesn't take into account sub displacement.

So the question is should I just make the box sealed or will this smaller size box accommodate these type r subs that like bigger ported boxes? Thanks for the advice

if you're fine with that size enclosure and tuning frequency but you are concerned with the displacement of your subs, get and small batt of poly fill and line the wall of the port that is facing your internal box volume (not inside your port).

for amps i have the hifonics brutus 1200 running at 1 ohm. Would polyfill really compensate enough for the smaller size box? This is going in the back of a jeep wrangler so my goal is just brute force quantity of sound since the road noise in a jeep is fairly loud. Being a newb at box building Im just worried about putting the time in to building a ported box and it sounding like ***.

Don't waste your time building a ported enclosure that size and put those two R's in it.......You won't like the results.......That size box would be o.k. for just one of them and would perform way way better than cramming two of them in that box.....good luck

He's wanting to run 2 type r 12's in a box that's 2.26 cu. ft. gross. That's way too small. *edit* misread your post there, didn't see the IF.
