your getting at.

Are you saying:

Port legnth, shorter =

higher tuning = louder

the question is the port length should be longer or shorter which would be louder??

Port size will change your tuning, meaning it will play different notes louder, softer etc.

There are several box calculators out there, and a formula, but I don't remember it off-hand.
