i have been in SUVs and i know it seems louder it's just every time i put the sub i have now 15" cvr 3^ft@30hz it dosent seem as loud as it dose when its in the trunk any idea why? im still a newbie so i need help learning

why dose my sub seem louder in the trunk reather then its right next to me head? please help me i dont want to waste the money on the 18 if im going to have the same thing happen

Generally speaking, low frequencies magnify with reflection, which explains why you put your home theater sub in the corner of the room or face your sub to the rear of the vehicle.

I have no experience with subs in the back seat so someone else will have to help you there.

I've heard systems where the subs were that close and sometimes it was loud as hell, but others, not at all.......I think depending on the box, some distance is needed to get the right sound back to the driver and passenger. The times it sounded shitty, all I heard was port noise, and barely any real "bass" coming from the system. Could've been the port and enclosure size, though.

I would try putting a box w/ the 18 in the back seat b4 you go ahead and take apart your car.......may be sorry afterwards.

back seat comes out really easy, in the concorde im useing, why though is it some people face thier subs in the car? anyone that dose this could you explain?

dont understand the question......some people face their subs in the car????

They are in the car already......unless you are asking why they face them rearward??? If thats the Q, then some face them rearward so the waves bounce off the back and come forward, and it makes it sound better, louder, etc........no port noise that way either......I'm sure someone will jump in here and give the "scientific" explanation:D

now if you are asking why they fire them IN from the trunk area toward the driver/passenger.......well, again, dont know the true reason, but can tell ya my RE XXX 15 is facing that way in my trunk and its louder this way rather than facing rearward.......but my port is facing forward also.

yes that would be my Q why do some people face their subs toward them rather then toward the tail of the car? why isnt your xxx louder faced toward the tail lights??

i know pointing the sub and port straight up is good in a hatchback, and most cars it's louder when it faces rearward. i had 2 12's in a truck right up again my seats and it didn't get very loud.

depends on how well the trunk has been deadened
I imagine deadening the trunk very thoroughly would make a rear firing sub less likely to be louder? More deadening means less reflection which is the whole reason for facing it rear?
