box position

Everyone is talking about what is louder, but I'm curious which way sounds better?

'cause usually the better sounding way is also louder because you are getting everything you can out of the setup.

ex....

My xxx 15 was facing sub and port rear. It sounded "pretty loud", and hit kinda hard, and was slightly sloppy.

Now, I face the sub/port forward.....it hits like a bat in the chest, is ungodly loud and clear as hell. Why??? Dont know. Maybe 'cause the port/sub is same side. It all depends on the box . Is your sub/port @ different areas of the box?? That makes a world of difference.

I imagine deadening the trunk very thoroughly would make a rear firing sub less likely to be louder? More deadening means less reflection which is the whole reason for facing it rear?

eh, not so much......the deadening will improve the trunk rattle...

It wont be louder from outside but it will be louder from the inside

****, I need to turn my box around...

p.s. deadening is now done.
