I am using Orion P12D2 Subs that are needing about 13.5" long and 4" wide ports. Problem is my box is 14.5" tall and 12" deep. can I use 2 ports?

Thanks,

James

someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe as long as the port(s) meet the specs, you can use multiple ports... so, I would say divide the length in half and you should be alright by using two 6.25 inch long ports...

No 2 ports changes things. You cant just have a port let's say 4" round by 30 inches. and you want 2 ports so you make it 2 4" ports by 15" it does change the tuning....

just stick the ports on the OUTSIDE of the box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

lol - dont do that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you SHOULD be able to cut the DIAMATER and the LENGTH in half and achieve the same tuning.

just tested it - and that works. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if you have a 4"x10" round port - you can cut it in half (2x10) and put TWO of them in to achieve the same tuning. careful tho - the smaller the port - the eaiser it is for port noise to rear its ugly mug! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

2x10 or 2x5 make up your mind with your "SHOULD be able to cut the DIAMATER and the LENGTH in half" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Why not? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif PeaveyBassist built an excellent ported box for an e8a.44 that had almost the entire box outside the box, due to space requirements - it looked like a little steam engine with the smokestack coming out of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Sounded pretty good, IIRC...
