i have an alpine type x powered by a phoneix gold r15 and a rather crappy premaid box off of ebay it is like 1.2 cubic feet ported and i was wondering if i change the box will it sound better/diffrent and was wondering for suggestions of what size to make and i have a shop class in school and i need a project and i wanted to make a box so i was wondering what dimensions i should make it

thx man hopefully that will make some diffrence because in that little box it pushes so much air out and also could someone suggest one where the port comes out of the top because the back door on the explorer rattles like heck

The air coming out the port isn't really the cause for the rattling door. It's just a compilation of how loud the subs are. Re seal the door. Changing the port position won't really change the output at all in that case.
