Box Material

I need some advice. I have seen some pics of boxes of people using actual 5 or 7 plywood. It is possible to get a good box out of this. I happen to fall into about 10 sheets of it. I hope to get some quick responses on this.

plywood? for a enclosure? the most common and popular would to use for enclosures are 3/4" MDF.

Yes I know that is why I asked if it is possible to use it. I have fell into a bunch of it. I can go buy a piece of 3/4" MDF but if i can use this stuff I want too.

from my experience i highly doubt you will get that performance that you will usually get with MDF. Using plywood as box material i would not recommend.

It is 5 ply but it is too late now, the storm has ruined it. So it is a moot point.

I wouldnt suggest using it if you want any kind of actual sound quality out of it. You should be able to come up with a whole hell of alot more then that if you run through your S-4 and give them the correct NSN. A sheet of MDF (medium Fiber Density Board) is the most commonly used material for a few reasons.

1) it is best for dampening resonant frequencies and absorbing vibrations within your enclosure

2) it is generally a whole lot easier to work with. (no chips or splinters coming off your pieces. you could tape up the cut lines on the ply wood, but the finished piece is still rougher)

(you know now that I think of it... I wonder if your S-4 could order some MDF for you??? just kiddin.
