I use an excel spreadsheet that I made, as well as my brain and a calculator. The only reliable way to make sure the design is right.

To make 3D sketches I use AutoCad, but there are programs out there that are easier like sketchup

oh yea ... sketchup is my newest toy... havent got it figured out 100% but the tuturials are awesome
