Hey guys, I'm extremely new to the forum. (Within about an hour as of now) which suprises me how i still got my username i use on everything- seeing as this forum is years old lol. Anyways, I was planning on building a sealed box with 3 different chambers. on the left and right would be a Kenwood KFC-w3012 and in the middle would be a RF P1 15". What are your thoughts on this? I know I'm not supposed to mix subs but as far as i know kenwood does not make 15" subs, and i also regret ever buying kenwood subs to begin with. Comments, ideas, thoughts- please leave them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My goals with the project:

A decent box that will fit inside a ford focus SE (02) and sound good with a 15 for some deep bass, and the 12s for some midbass. The kenwoods Frequency Response sucks hardcore btw, the lowest is 39. and i plan on replacing these POS subs with some old school HX2 hopefully. (the models with the huge *** rubber and huge *** dustcap by RF) Also, the amp being used is a Orion HCCA D1200 but within the next week i'm upgrading to a Power Acoustik ov2 2600.

You can do it but you need to give the 15 and 12 separate amps. Build each to be tuned the same and optimal box requirments. but I would not run two different brands. be either all rf or all kenwood. or sell all them and get a buget that we can make suggestions on..

are you completely retarded? ive never heard a 12" with "midbass". sell your shit kenwood and buy something good.

i didnt mean to say midbass, i meant more like the 12s can play some, but the 15s lower. And it was either kenwoods or RE REX 12's and I didnt know which would sound better, and the kenwoods had better features (or so i thought, idk) and this is why I'm asking. Am I retarded? No. Do I need to be called retarded because I misspelled something on my FIRST POST on this forum? Probably not, but I guess you have to point out the flaws in my post. I just want to know what would sound good, what wouldn't, and if this is a good idea. I'm thinking about just getting two or three RF Hx2's and building a triple box instead. That way it's all the same, and all hits hard, sounds good... you know?

I'm not calling you retarded because you misspelled anything. I called you it because you said 12's for midbass. And i know you are new here but 12's can get just as low as a 15, its all on box tuning. I would sell all that kenwood shit you have dont get hx2's go out and buy an audioque hdc3 with a 1200d amp. Youll be amazed. And btw re pwns the kenwoods.

And sorry for the double post, but also what do you consider "Good" ? Because idk if my budget is good enough for some crazy *** 300$ sub. Actually, I don't have that kind of money at all considering I'm a 17year old kid who wants some nice bump in his trunk for a budget. I'm interested to learn more about car audio (I know some, but not all), and still keep a budget system. Also, I have to pay for an apartment and college too; so I can't dump all my money into something that will get stolen (after a point) anyways.

If you get three subs all same size and brand and model the you dont need to make it a separate chamber box. and the three 12's on th right box should be capable of getting you the sound you want. so.

Let us know when you finally have all the equipment and then we can help you build the best box to fit your needs and likings...

But are the RE REx's good? they're 150RMS a piece, and didnt look that great on the spec chart IMO. but then again, three of them is only 155$ so that could explain their abilities.

im running 4 re 8's. they are nice for what they are, get loud enough for 8's. if you want to get loud save up for an hdc3, fi, or anything else along those lines.

hey dude, welcome to the forum, Im pretty new here to, I agree its a shitty thing to call a guy who is just staring out that hes retarded, its probably why a lot of members never make it past 10 posts....keep in mind there is a lot of good people here who will break their back to help you.

dont even bother trying to to get a 15 and 2 12' subs in a focus. like someone said you can get just as loud with 12's.

if your on a budget, I suggest selling the kenwoods, and picking up a pair of DC level 3's http://www.dcsoundlab.com/ perfect sub for getting loud and daily driving, which i think you want to do correct? also a great amp for a ridiculous price is the MB Quart dsc2000.1d you can get 2000k out of it and its only 300$ its wayyy better than that power acoustic amp

I can help you design I good box for the 12" as well, just pm me if your interested

best advice I can give you, stick around, read threads, and do your homework before making any purchases or installs

best luck mate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Welcome to CA!

Why not just build a good ported box for the two Kenwoods? I've never heard those particular subs but spec wise they appear decent, and the frequency response goes well below 39hz when you put them in a ported box that's tuned low. Space wise it would work well in that car and if you don't like it when you try it then you could sell the subs in a box to someone, but I think you should at least try it before you run out and spend more money. Setup is a far bigger factor than brand of equipment or how much you spent. A good place to start would be 3ft3 net volume tuned to 32hz. You can change a lot with the sound of a sub or how much power it can handle by altering the enclosure that it's in.
