Box for a DC LVL 4 10" help me!

alright so im looking to make a nice little box for a sub i just bought and im looking for SQL mostly to the SQ side. Should i do ported or sealed? Can anyone suggest a port size or box design. and would it look cool to get it painted with automotive paint?

i would do ported...

1 cubic foot is what that 10 calls for...

so you could get away with a 4 inch aero port...or 12-16 square inches of port area on a slot port.

and if you sand and primer the mdf a couple of times, auto paint will work fairly well

this makes me sound like a sped but what port diameter would you guys suggest if i make a box with around a cube probably like 1.2?

EVERY box ive ever made.... (like 4) has had dirty port noise.. never used aeroports.... with 2 4" diameter aeroports would i guarantee no port noise... and how long should they be?

thats because you werent using aeroports...

general rule for aero's-8-12 sq inches of port area per cube

general rule for slot ports-12-16 sq inches of port per cube

7.06858 is the area for 1 three inch aero...

12.56 is the area for 1 four inch aero

what you want it tuned too determines the length of the port...

its a daily and for SQ so my thought is around 30-35

with two 3 inch aeros they would each need to be a little under 28 inches long...remember to take the flare into account for length

28! jesus christ! my box is going to be 21" wide (widest side)

you can have them go out side of the box too...thats what im gona be doing for my next box. That measurement was for 33 hz btw

35 hz would be 24.7 inches
