box for a beast of a 15

Depends on what your car peaks at. No doubt 50hz will give you a good sized peak, but you might as well do some work to find where your car peaks at and build around that to get every last db possible...use a 6" aero and adjust length to test different tunes(just buy some thin wall PVC and cut lengths in 1" increments...and test). Or if you go with a 3ft^3 box you can use two full length 6" aeros for a 50hz tune, and just start to shorten the port to try higher tunes as well...I doubt that you'll need to tune any lower than 50hz to hit your peak frequency.

Our concerns were more with using a 2cube box to do this, we are mounting the sub inverted and have two 4inch aeros. he is running it sealed now to get us an idea for the peak frequency, there is a small show coming up and i suggested we just run the sub sealed at the show and meter it to find peak. then cut the aeros for the usaci show on the 30th ?!?!win?

Wouldn't you need a meter to test when you start cutting port down to see which length is the loudest? So really, what you need is a SPL meter. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

will had said that running it sealed or in a box that small period would risk locking it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Locking it up? Like frying the coil? You don't have to beat on it hard when finding your peak...and I've never heard of a small ported box causing problems like that. I've use a 2ft^3 box for an 18 before...

I told them not to run it sealed because the pressure would make the sub freeze up. I have heard the same happen when running too small ported so I warned them against it. The sub cost A LOT and I'm sure they don't wanna screw it up. But I'm not perfect I could be wrong.... but I wouldn't risk it

Well in theory, you only need to test once, to find what your res freq is, then change port to match. Do it once, do it right....lol.
Yes, in theory but things tend to change it up. Plus, you don't know technically when the port becomes most efficient in line with the resonance of the vehicle.

I have never heard of this happening. Plus, what RAM said is correct, you don't have to blast it to get frequency response. All you gotta do is get higher than a 120dB, IIRC on the TL, for it to pick up the sub.

2cubes was too big for the 15 i had in it before. we no wang it hard sir, probably getting like 1k and its barely movin. I can assure you mr penn that this sub will not incur abuse. I have a vice for bryans balls if he does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The note can vary at higher volumes, but I'm sure the tib peaks somewhere between 50 and 60 hz so shouldn't be hard to find
