hey guys, i just bought an 8" pioneer 350w woofer second hand, it did come in a box but it was very shabby and ugly and just didnt like a proper box (the guy had probally made it himself) i would like to build a new box for it because it doesn't look that hard....

what i would like to know is what sort of box is best suited or gives the best overall sound.... also if theres any thing i should take into consideration before hand its just i've read alot of technical stuff about building these boxes.....

any help on the subject would be great

Use this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp to achieve desired dimensions and tuning. If you go with a ported box, the port will be "tuned" to a certain frequency. The tune is achieved by using the desired length of port, whether round or slot and the tuning comes from the relationship of the size of the port opening to the air volume of the box after all displacements are taken out. A ported box when done right will give you more output over a sealed box. The box is the most important item in a sound system.
