BOX for 12w7....

Now the next question that I need some input for is WHAT AMP SHOULD I PURCHASE TO RUN A 12W7 IN THIS BOX?

I was originally planning to get a 10w7 and a 500/1, but have decided to go with the 12w7 instead, but now I'm stuck looking for a amp again. Please help me out guys.

I have no way to build my own box, so I was thinking of purchasing this enclosure for a 12w7.

Ported 12 from me is 100-110 shipped (off the top of my head, not looking at the list). For ~25-30 more you get a c ustom box, not some prefab that you don't know what is tuned to.

Have you made any ported box's to exact JL specs for a 12w7?

The guy that is building these box's and selling them on ebay says that he tuned them to 33hz and that they are built to exact specs for a JL12w7. Do you think they are really built to spec's? The measurments match up with JL's website, but who knows if the port is correct or not?

The box shown above is actually tuned to 36hz and have contaced some of the people that have purchased the box on ebay and they are very pleased with the quality of it.

you need 1,000,000,000 watts of power dude!

look it up man! 500/1 will not be enough thats one thing for sure!

you need what 700 to 1000 watts to run it!

I did not say I was going to try to use a 500/1 on a 12w7, thats just dumb.

Ok I'll buy my box from PV Audio, check your PM later tonight bro as soon as I get off of work I'll give you my measurements and info of what I'm looking for in a box for a 12w7 then maybee you could give me a quote.

So anyways I know I need a amp that can do a minimum of 1000watts rms, but which one.

I'm looking to spend just under $500 on a amp, but all of the ones that are catching my eye are around $700.

The KX2500.1 looks like a good amp for the 12w7 and so does the Orion 2500D.

Are there any amps that will perform as well in pushing the 12w7 as good as a kx2500.1 and the Orion 2500D, but cost only $500 or less?

look for a JBL 1200.1, PG Tantrum 1200.1 or a PG Xenon 1200.1 all very good amps that do 1200+ watts at 2-4 ohms

the specs for a 12w7 call them to be tuned to 32Hz; go with PV, he can do wonders

i've got a xenon 1200.1 to my dub7; perfect match

find any amp that puts out RATED power at 3 ohms, around, but not much more, than 950watts

i have an orion 2500D on my w7...it likes it.

i did my box 3 cubes @ 33hz. my W7 never comes close to xmax off 1000+ watts, its nice.

id prolly get a JL 1000/1, or that PG amp if i were you.

...No, cannot say that I have..But if that's what you are wanting, then that's fine.

I think I'm going to go with the PG Xenon 1200.1 just like what maldecido33 has.

I had a JL500/1 on my 12W7 for a LONG time. It hit hard as hell. It was in a small sealed enclosure made by subzone. I know i wasn't pushing the sub to it's potential, but its not "dumb" to use a 500/1 if you don't have money for something else at the time and the 500/1 is already in your possesion.
