box coating options?

No nail or screw holes!!!!! Just lotsss of glue...

It may not need prepping then...basically prepping is sanding making sure its smooth and filling any seems and holes with wood filler...if everything is ready and all it needs is sprayed...they'd run about $75 to do the box...

is there anything i can put in my gun the will last and be waterproof?

nothing that can be done right....any good bedliner type spray...would clog a standard paint gun...like I said earlier it dries in a matter of seconds

well i was thinking if i put the milkshake stuff then just paint and seal it it shouls still be waterproof?

another idea i had was building a metal are wood box (like a tool box) with a door and everything but a sealed door and putting the actual sub box in that and still sealing the sub box.

The easiest way...would be build your box...install everything...I can give you instructions on pre prepping your bed...make a trip to my warehouse...and I can put the right stuff in your bed and have you in and out in about 2 hours....if you pre prep everything...that will save you about $100 so you could get it done right for $300 so no experimenting...wasting money...redoing things...tearing up tools...and get a job done right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

maybe so im very experienced with metal working and also have a friend that was runner up in a state welding competion. So probably going to do that but if not what all has to be done for the spray coat?

your box would need all seams...nail holes ...and screw holes filled with wood filler....then it would need to be sanded pretty smooth...then all the metal in your bed and on your tailgate would need to be sanded and scuffed with 80 grit...but not to the metal...thats about it....at least 80 % of the bed would need scuffed...

ok im going to run some numbers on nhow much the metal would cost and if its close to the price of your coationg i would just go with the coating.

hmmm. duplicolor??? I havent used that before, i use Herculiner on my enclosures... anyone know how they compare to each other??? (people who have used both or have seen both in person)

used both the dif is all price they are the same exact compound the herculiner has added ground rubber thats it

herc and dupli color both have rubber bits in them. Herc has a bit more though. Rust o does not have it in there. If it does it's tiny tiny pieces a much smoother finish
