I am about to do a setup in a friends 88 chevy. He was wanting do do 6 hifonics hfi 12s firing up port back but I was thinking he would be louder doing a pair of sundown SA 12s and a decent amp. So I was thinking should we do the 6 12s? two SA 12s in a 4th order port through the rear deck? or firing back? or just a regular ported box subs and port firing back?

but there is only one "box" chevy. I do not even know the volume yet I just got the email from the guy saying he wanted 6 12s in the trunk and I am trying to think if there would be a better setup then that

As you can see... I have (6) of those Hifonics 12s in my Nissan Sentra... They hit VERY hard...

... I'd go 6 in there if I were ya'll.

( When I find a box chevy " 84-88 Box Caprice ", I'm going to go (12) 12" Sealed... )

... That trunk has enough airspace to do 6 12s ported also...

yea all this has to be in the trunk. I was really thinking two SA 12s in a 4th order either firing through the deck or firing back would be pretty loud and still give him the stupid *** trunk rattle he wants

Just get some idea of the area you are working with, and go from there. Just because he can fit 30 subs in the car, that does not mean it will be the best setup. Just have a "wow" factor do to more subs.

Not one of these.....if he want's trunk rattle, just try to stuff as many subs as he can in the box, and make sure they wang at 50 hz and you'll be fine.

I build boxes locally and still do installs. I hate it when people want things I don't like(a billion subs sealed crap waste of space), but I just take their ideas and mine..mesh em together(find common ground so it sounds decent and the customer is happy) and then get paid. lol

I can fit two 12s in a 4th order in the trunk.just wonder if i should fire the the rear deck and seal the trunk off from the cabin or firing the port back and open up the rear deck some and take out the 6x9s

I have done one porting through the rear deck. Sounded pretty good, a lot cleaner then all the rattle(but I did a custom deck lid to fit the rear speakers and port in fiberglass and wrapped to match the car. It was want the owner wanted, never tried a 4th order in the trunk firing back though(never had the chance)

i wonder if i could do a 4th order, do the sealed section in the trunk and cut like a 8x30" hole where the back seat used to be and run it to the back seat of the car and do the large ported section
