yea but for the two yards or so i'll need from there plus the shipping it only saves me like 4 bucks over all. so i guess it really isn't that bad of a dealx2
This will start a heated debate (again). But, shops need to make money somehow. They probably get their carpet for $6-8 bucks / yard. Maybe even more.
Marking up to 12 from 8 isn't too bad.
But PartsExpress is a good place to get it.
huge rip-off.i'm just curious how much most of you pay for your box carpet. i've never bought any before and i need to get my box carpeted. one local shopped said they charge 12 bucks a square yard. is that a ok deal or a rip off?
Again, you have to think about it. The shop is probably getting it from a retailer, who is probably getting it from a wholesaler, who is probably getting it from the company...huge rip-off.
IIRC, i got a whole roll for ~$120 or so. it was like 50yards.
Yeah... and it's convenient.yea but for the two yards or so i'll need from there plus the shipping it only saves me like 4 bucks over all. so i guess it really isn't that bad of a deal
While I agree the local shop has to be expected to be higher than online prices, to suggest a local shop purchases from a retailer is not true. That would be a pretty poor business plan.Again, you have to think about it. Thus, you're cutting out up to 2 levels of sale. So the price is going to go down. Every step the person has to make more than what they bought it for to make ends meet. I can't blame the shop. But, that's how it is.
Lemme holler at some.I bought 2 rolls of 300yards^2 ea roll
One grey
One black
For $180 shipped.
Both those rolls are still in service //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
You're right. For something like carpet, they should buy wholesale. While I agree the local shop has to be expected to be higher than online prices, to suggest a local shop purchases from a retailer is not true. That would be a pretty poor business plan.
Most likely situation is the local shop buys it online just like we do. They may also buy direct, for even less $. They certainly dont buy it retail.
And you guys cant keep comparing roll prices to 'by the yard' prices. Obviously the bulk sale will be alot cheaper.
