Box building: share your secrets

Wood Glue pwns gorilla glue~Magick_Man~
Umm, Wood glue is Aight. But gorilla glue is the shiz. Much stronger. Expands to fill in any gaps. Only downside is damping the mdf before applying the glue. Gorilla glue is second only to epoxy in terms of strength.

titebond 3 ftw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

For MDF, wood glue > gorilla glue.If you glue with gorilla glue, the joint can and will break if you try. With wood glue, the panels are basically becoming one piece. The wood will break before the joint itself breaks.

Elmers pro bond > all . Got a bottle the other day to try it out. This chit is strong. Reminds me of gorrilla glue as it's urethane based. But doesn't have the expansion of gorilla glue. Holds rather well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

brad nailer ftw

In some situations screws do a better job. ( I'm lazy and use a brad nailer most of the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ) I.E. when your working on a port or something that is located in the middle of the enclosure. And you can't get good clamping pressure on it. The holding power of screws > brads in this situation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

12 pack of the beer of your choice.
only a 12 pack ??? Better be a small sealed enclosure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I agree w/mountaineer main. GG is NOT the best choice for box building. It's main function is furniture repair and REAL WOOD glue, not so much MDF. Yes, I've tried to use it before, and I've seen it expand on a nice clean joint and F it up.

Use what you want, but for box building like you asked...WOOD GLUE, Elmers or Titebond I or II FTW > Liquid Nails or Gorilla Glue.

You really have no idea as to what you're talking about, do you?
