they'll die in that coffin with that much power applied to them.
it says to give them 400w in that small box, and only 300 in the bigger box, so dbfan is right. turn your gains down so they only see like 325 or so

Yeah a lot of people have told me that, but if the reccomended volume for the CVR's are 4.6cf (just 1) and I got each sub @ 2.35cf wouldn't that be fine? It's under half but I don't have the room to make a huge box. Also I forgot to mention that the first 2 pics are when the box was 27" depth, I cut it back to 23", so the other pics are how it looks currently. The old box made the subs hit hard but when it came to low freq. it sounded like ***.
I don't know, this is my first time so I'm hoping that box will be fine to make those subs sound better than before. If not, then I guess I learn from my mistakes. Heh.
With a box as big as that, you **** sure dont wanna overpower them.

What do you mean they'll die? They're rated at 400wrms a piece, so I'm lacking some watts. They could probably get a little more power but I don't see how putting them in a bigger box would kill them.
More air space = more movement (excursion)

In other words, more air space = less power

Less air space = less movement (excursion)

In other words, less airspace = required power, maybe more.

The CVRs are know to start popping really bad when they are overpower or put in a bigger box. And they dont stop. Ive gone through a few of them. And my boxes were built to the minimum specs. So trust everyone when they say, they will die in that coffin, because most of them actually know what they are talking bout.

My gains are down currently and I never use the bass boost. I'll adjust those gains again and the settings on my HU when the new box is done. How is over powering them when I'm currently giving them a little over 300wrms when they're 400wrms max? Over powering them would be me giving them way more than 400wrms each. Maybe I'm missing something here and I'm still a car audio newbie but I pretty much know my basics.

OT:

Supraman, Did you do any changes to your set up between the AC reading and the TL reading?

I did about the same number on the AC with my old enclosure, my new one is a bit louder but i havent gotten it on either mic, JW.

I cant believe Im quoting myself. LOL

A bigger enclosure means that the CVRs dont need as much power to get them moving.

A too large of a sealed box has two effects, both of which are kinda related since the first is only for certain drivers:

1. The sub begins behaving as though it is in what is called an infinite baffle. I won't go into the specifics, but the subwoofer is essentially open with no enclosure on any one side.

2. The sub will bottom out because it's not made for IB applications, thus resulting in mechanical failure.

Basically, it has too much air and the sub cannot rely on the sealed environment to "control" the cone like it needs to.

If none of the above happens, it'll just sound boomy and like ***. Otherwise, I like your drive, keep it up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No I didnt change anything.

But when I hit the 145.9 on the AC, I had just got my subs so they werent broken in yet. And They werent really broke in when I did the 146 on the TL either.

But now that they are really broke in, Im hoping to pull maybe a db or two out of it

Well cutting the box back some more is out of the question since it's mostly all glued together and it'd be a pain in the *** to cut it back and redo everything and I don't want a chance to fucc the box up.

I don't know anything about ported boxes, that's why I never made one in the first place, plus I'm more of a sealed type of person. Sure ported boxes are loud and nice but they're not my thing. I like the tighter bass response. But thanks anyways for the tip.

This is what I don't understand. The whole box together is 4.7cf which only 1 CVR reccomends 4.6cf in a sealed box. So if I put just 1 of my CVR's in that box then yeah it'd be a mess since the box would be too big. But if I put 2 in that box with each sub seeing only 2.35cf then I don't see the problem. The first 2 pics are before I cut the box back some so it's not really that big now. It's half of what the book/manual reccomends. As for powering them, I'm actually "underpowering" them. I know the bigger box says 4.6cf is good for 300wrms but I'm not using 4.6, I'm only using 2.35. I don't really see a problem there, but like I said I'm new at this and I probably sound like a dumbass trying to explain this. Haha but we all start some where. I guess the person who sent me the box plans didn't know what he was doing or he wanted to see my stuff get messed up.
