I'm getting some alpine's SWS-10D4 running at 500 rms 4ohm dual voice coils I'm thinking, the max demension for a box would be 20 x 20 x 8 inches deep it will be a perfectly square box with sub facing upwards, so I'm asking if that's the max demensions would that be enough to support those subs? And what would the ideal box dimensions.

You have 1.53 cuft gross volume.

So two of them sealed would be fine, but ported you will be on the small side.

If ported you will just need to up the power a bit to fix the space issue.

But ported will only realistically fit 1 of those subs

Lol your going to laugh on what I'm putting them in but I'm putting them in a dodge caravan and they have stow and go seats so I'm going to put them on each side of the stow and go.

are they facing eachother? That might be a recipe for major cancellation which is very bad. I got a sienna so i aint laughing bro.

No clue what that means
Do you not understand "how much power" and "what music genre you do listen to?" lol

Ported has a tuned ported hole for the subwoofer to breath, its a more efficient box design than sealed which means louder and reaches deep bass a lot stronger. Sealed is a simple box with no hole or tuning other than getting enough airspace.

No clue what that means
The offload part he meant was if the box was ported the sound waves aka bass would need to bounce off something to get more output.

In your caravan floor to roof maybe to far which would produce less output as the waves would cancel out.

If the port of the box was 6-18 inches from a wall or anything then you will get more noticeable output.

Ok gotcha, I know what port and sealed boxes are, mine are going to be sealed and pushing 500 rms per sub, the stow and go is like under the floor of the van if your familiar with that, it's like a cut out so the seats can lay completely flat out of the way.. There is like panels that cover the cutouts so when seats are up and useable so u can walk on them. I could go port but I think with the panels over the subs it wouldn't make a difference because there wouldn't be enough clearance for any rebound effect.

When I hear someone mention vans, I picture kids spilling **** and climbing all over the place. Why not go with down firing? I did an inverted wedge ported box in my Wrangler and even with no top/doors on it slammed. The sub was downfiring and the port on the side, at the time I didn't want to deal with trying to fire the port down as well. Here's what an inverted wedge is:

I was running a single Sundown e10, so I angled it so the rear of the sub was closer to the floor than the front. Jeeps don't have much to load the sub off of, so I imagine it would be even louder in an enclosed vehicle. Downfiring also helps protect the subs from damage, which is why I even mentioned it.
