No, you're very wrong. Both need to be very much considered but blindly basing port area on box size is just plain stupid. Just because that's what AQ/DD recommend for their subs does NOT mean it is the only factor to consider.

I had an enclosure that was about 5 cubes and had only 36in^2 of port. That's only 7.2" per cubic foot... oh noes it must sound like *** right?! It played flat from 25-80hz in room and the subs would run out of steam before there was any port noise.

I just want to let everyone know that this box rocks!! sounds amazing.. no noise whatsoever and the sub is hitting every note that i want it to so i am happy..

mike **** good looking box bro, about the same size as my 15 box for my rd audio alpha, you saw it this past weekend anyway. i took home third with a 142.5 an climbing man on sunday so the box has more in it just have to find it.

i don't think this box or port was too small for this sub, how about you guys save yourself some trunk space build small for a change tune higher than 34hz for peaks sake an then tell me what you think, cause 3 cubes on a pair of 10's is just crazy i think. i have put 10's in the same size box as mike has done for this 12.
