Port area is based upon the box size, not the sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You're not even at 12^2 per cube which is the smallest I'd ever go...Thats way to much port for a single 12. I'm simply building it based on what DJ told the customer to build the box to.
not necessarily, i have 40 sq in on my box, single 12" @ 2.5 @ 32hzThats way to much port for a single 12. I'm simply building it based on what DJ told the customer to build the box to.

Well, everyone has this misconception that the larger the port is the more output you are going to have. Their are a lot more factors that control output.not necessarily, i have 40 sq in on my box, single 12" @ 2.5 @ 32hz
Thank you sir, um I think it would be more usefull as a desk instead of a paper weight.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifI would tend to trust someone from AQ, but even so, it does seem a tad small I guess. Maybe I'm just stuck on my big box fetish //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif. 3 cubes with 50 sq. in of port area for 2 10" kicker comps. But whatever, it hits really hard so I'm happy with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Oh well, enough trashing on Mike, I don't care if it sounds like shit... his box builds are works of art. It would make a lovely paperweight should it be phail. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
10sq.in. per cube is perfectly acceptable. With rounded port edges you shouldnt have any issues...Great box build.
How many more builds before you can afford a new camera? hahah....
Well the only problem with just using wood glue is has less of than an 1/8" of bond in the wood. Being on the front baffle vibrations will casue the glue to break loose and make the two baffle slap each other. Thats why I use screws on the bafflesOnce again, nice work!
That is a TON of screws to hold the baffles together! Is that overkill or necessary? I would think a healthy amount of wood glue and clamping would work just fine, no?
Oh ok. I suppose I should do the same for the box I'm working on for two 18" BTls then. Thanks for the input.Well the only problem with just using wood glue is has less of than an 1/8" of bond in the wood. I would NEVER tell a customer to build a port with less then 14-16 SQ" per net cubic foot of box volume for one of our subs.Well, everyone has this misconception that the larger the port is the more output you are going to have. Their are a lot more factors that control output.
As I have stated before this box was built to how DJ of Audio Que told the cutomer to build the box to for his sub.

As said before, I personally would have opted for a bit more port area, but that port in no way will be bad so long as it is solid and has some rounded-over routered edges on the port exit. At least the box volume is good so you will have good cone control and a nice transient response. I don't think that port will hold you back to be honest. 30 sq. would've been better with around 40 being optimal, but it should perform just fine.I just want to inform everyone that i recieved those numbers from a member that apparently thought he knew what he was talking about but obviously didnt. I should have contacted DJ or even just looked on Audioques website. In no way are the port dimensions audioques fault. Its my fault for believing a random person off the forums.
All we can do is hope that it sounds decent and if not mods will have to be done!!
Thanks
Sean
