Box build for my 12'' BL

How expensive is it? I don't care much for the looks of the box, but I'd hate to make another because of the MDF expanding on me.

Would a thick coat of spraypaint do? Or should I buy some Rhino Lining?

You could coat it with fiberglass resin or polyurethane. Polyurethane can be had real cheap and will work very well for water proofing.

Ok, would they have the polyurethane coating at Home Depot? Or would I need to go somewhere else? And would I need any special tools?

Fiberglass resin will probably be a little more durable and they will both be pretty water resistant.

Polyurethane is a clear coat and yes, you can buy it at Home Depot or Walmart. Auto parts stores will usually carry resin and some Home Depots carry it too. If you take either route, make sure you use either a wood filler or preferably a body filler on the end wood grain as it will soak up coats and coats of paint without treatment.

If you're going to paint it and use polyurethane, first use a coat or two of some auto primer and then lightly sand that with some 220 grit paper. Then apply a few even coats of paint. After that, seal it with polyurethane. I like to use polyurethane in a can and apply it with a foam brush or a nice bristle brush. They also have a spray can for polyurethane that can work well but I've never used it.

Ok. Thank you for the help, I appreciate it! Your posts are always helpful, and have made me learn alot.

Nice job man, looks good, let us know how it sounds
Thanks Rashad, It's been done for awhile, just too lazy to upload pics. It sounds great, finally got the air volume and port area I needed, it sounds alot better. The lows are pretty amazing, and Yellow Diamonds by Gucci Mayne sounds like thunder lol. Thanks for helping me too man, I'll upload some pics of the box later on, and I'll make a thread in the future when I paint it and seal it.

Finally got pics of the finished box, not painted or sealed yet though.

Before it was finished, checking clearence around the sub...

I'll probably be getting new indoor speakers soon, along with some deadening. Once the carpet is pulled, all the wires will be hidden underneath and that amprack will be raised 3/4'' so I can hide all the wires better. LMK what you guys think!

looks good i been thinkin about gettin Fi not sure if i want the BTL or BL how does it sound?
Thanks, the BL is a mix in between the Q and the BTL, gets pretty loud and sounds pretty good, it's designed for ported boxes only so I couldnt tell you what its like sealed.

The BTL will take alot more power and get loud as balls, but probably has little sq, don't quote me on that though.

I think the BL does great for any type of music. I feel a lot of people over look the BL because they think it doesn't get low enough but for most music it does just fine....that's just from my experience.

Yea, it's got great response, keeps up with double-bass very well. Gets very low for the size, it impressed me once I put it in this box. Still gets the higher freq's too, just not so much in this new box. In an older box which the tuning got screwed up, which is around 47hz, it blurs the vision. So this sub is very well worth the money.
